Overview

Carboxytherapy involves the injection of medical grade carbon dioxide gas is the injection of carbon dioxide gas into the skin. It can be performed on any area of the body and is ideally suited to the treatment of stretch marks, cellulite, local fat deposits, wrinkle reduction and treatment of dark circles under the eyes.

Carbon dioxide, a colourless, odourless gas is injected into the skin and diffuses.  As a result, the body, in attempting to correct the imbalance of oxygen/carbon dioxide levels, increases the blood flow, delivering more oxygen and nutrients to the area, important growth factors are released to improve collagen. it improves skin elasticity, circulation and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, aids collagen repair, and destroys localised fatty deposits.

Studies have indicated Carboxytherapy improves skin elasticity, circulation, fine lines and wrinkles, localised fat deposits, dark under eye circles, cellulite and stretch marks.

Immediately after treatment, there may be some skin redness and swelling, with some tenderness which is expected usually settles over a period of days. There may be bruising, depending on the area treated.

All treatments carry a degree of risk.

It is important the equipment being used is appropriate and the practitioner is well trained. Any risks and possible side effects will be discussed at your consultation and prior to any treatment being agreed. Carboxytherapy is generally considered a very safe treatment with minimal down time and side effects.

Results are delivered over time- usually between 4-10 treatments 2-4 weeks apart depending on the indication and desired outcome.  Once achieved results may be long term or maintenance treatments will be recommended,; again, depending on the treatment indication and lifestyle factors.
