FAQs
Welcome to the Save Face FAQs. Here you’ll find clear answers about how we keep you safe, how our accreditation works, and how to use our register to find and verify practitioners. If you need more help, please contact us and we’ll be happy to assist.
Save Face is a PSA (Professional Standards Authority) Accredited Register of healthcare practitioners and clinics providing non‑surgical cosmetic treatments. Our register is recognised by the Government, NHS England and the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Every practitioner and clinic listed has passed our rigorous 116‑point assessment.
Practitioners are assessed against our accreditation standards. We only accredit healthcare professionals and verify active registration with their statutory regulator:
- Nurses and midwives — Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC): https://www.nmc.org.uk
- Doctors, surgeons and dermatologists — General Medical Council (GMC): https://www.gmc-uk.org
- Dentists — General Dental Council (GDC): https://www.gdc-uk.org
- Prescribing pharmacists — General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC): https://www.pharmacyregulation.org
We also validate qualifications, insurance, training, product sourcing, infection control, premises, consent, and complaints handling. Accreditation is renewed annually, with continuous monitoring via patient feedback throughout the year. Save Face is the only UK register that validates all of these elements and inspects every clinic location listed.
Accreditation is only open to registered healthcare professionals. Save Face accredits a select group of clinicians: doctors, dentists, nurses, midwives and prescribing pharmacists. We limit accreditation to these professions because their statutory regulators recognise aesthetic medicine within their scope of practice and they are authorised to prescribe medicines for medical aesthetic treatments.
On each profile (Accredited Practitioner tab), every practitioner entry shows their profession and regulator:
- Doctor (GMC‑registered) — https://www.gmc-uk.org
- Dentist (GDC‑registered) — https://www.gdc-uk.org
- Nurse (NMC‑registered) — https://www.nmc.org.uk
- Midwife (NMC‑registered) — https://www.nmc.org.uk
- Prescribing pharmacist (GPhC‑registered) — https://www.pharmacyregulation.org
It also states prescribing status. If they are not a prescriber, the profile shows their associated prescriber and that prescriber’s regulator.
Example:
- Regulatory body: NMC — Registered Nurse (https://www.nmc.org.uk)
- Prescriber: No
- Associated prescriber: Dr Joe Bloggs
- Regulatory body (prescriber): GMC — Registered Doctor (https://www.gmc-uk.org)
- Profession: Doctor
Save Face verifies every practitioner’s registration status before awarding accreditation. You can also check a practitioner directly on their statutory regulator’s public register. Save Face accredits only:
- Doctors (GMC): https://www.gmc-uk.org/registration-and-licensing/the-medical-register
- Dentists (GDC): https://www.gdc-uk.org/registration/your-registration/check-register
- Nurses and Midwives (NMC): https://www.nmc.org.uk/registration/search-the-register
- Pharmacists (GPhC): https://www.pharmacyregulation.org/registers
How to check
- Search by name (or registration number, if provided).
- Confirm their status is active and note any restrictions.
Why we do not publish practitioner PIN numbers
- To protect against identity theft, impersonation and misuse of regulator IDs.
- The NMC advise against publishing full PINs; verification should be done on the regulator’s own register.
- Save Face already verifies active registration at accreditation and renewal.
- Public profiles show profession and regulator for patient verification.
- Practitioners can share their registration number with patients at consultation if needed or it will be provided to a patient by Save Face upon request.

Save Face accreditation covers all non‑surgical cosmetic treatments. Common examples include anti‑wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, skin boosters, chemical peels, microneedling, and IPL/laser hair removal.
- Dentists (GDC‑registered) may also list cosmetic dentistry treatments (e.g., teeth whitening).
- GMC‑registered plastic surgeons may additionally list relevant surgical procedures (e.g., hair restoration, breast augmentation, rhinoplasty).
Before any treatment is shown on a practitioner’s profile, they must provide:
- Valid, procedure‑specific training certificates; and
- Evidence that the treatment is itemised on their insurance schedule.
Save Face verifies both training and insurance for each treatment before it appears on a practitioner’s profile.
No. We are completely independent and have no associations with any brands. As part of our accreditation process, we verify that practitioners use only licensed products and equipment sourced from licensed pharmacies and reputable suppliers. Your clinician will advise on specific brands/products that are most appropriate for your concerns and desired outcomes.
Search by postcode/town and treatment on the Save Face register, then browse the clinics in your results. We recommend booking a consultation with one or more clinics to discuss your concerns and desired outcomes before deciding.

As part of our accreditation process, our nurse assessors conduct an in‑depth interview with every practitioner to confirm they can deliver a thorough consultation, obtain informed consent, and provide appropriate aftercare. This ensures you understand what the treatment involves, how it works, the potential complications and adverse reactions, and how the practitioner will care for you if an issue arises.
All procedures carry risks. Save Face–accredited practitioners are trained to recognise and manage complications, have vetted aftercare protocols, and act quickly and effectively if problems occur. If you have any concerns after your treatment, contact your practitioner immediately.
